**HTTP status:** `400` or `422`, depending on the request. May also be reported as a field-level finding in `error.details[]`.

Paging parameters are refused rather than clamped: limit must be 1-100, cursor must be a position this collection has had, and order must be one of the values the operation publishes. Chat, transcript, event-log and stream reads answer 422; a listing that validates its paging before reading answers 400. Nothing was read.

## Troubleshooting

- Inspect details\[].param (/query/limit, /query/cursor, /query/order or /headers/Last-Event-ID) and resend with a valid value; drop the cursor to start from the end the operation reads from.
