title: 1037: Cursor invalid. | API Docs
description: A cursor is not valid for this collection.
---

**HTTP status:** `400` or `422`, depending on the request.

The cursor was not issued for this collection, was issued for a state the collection no longer has, or points past the committed tail. Replays and exports answer 422; a listing that validates its cursor before reading answers 400. Nothing was read or scheduled.

## Troubleshooting

- Take cursors from this collection’s own responses and restart the listing without one when in doubt.
