1041: Non bmp character
No longer returned: a text body accepts any Unicode character
HTTP status: 422.
This code is no longer returned. It used to refuse a text body holding a character outside the Basic Multilingual Plane, which includes most emoji. Since 2026-09-14 a text body accepts any Unicode character, so a send that received this code before is now accepted. The number stays reserved and is never reused for another condition.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”- If you strip or replace emoji before sending because of this code, you can remove that step.
- A body is still limited to 5000 characters, counted as Unicode code points, and to 10000 bytes of UTF-8; a single emoji counts as one character and four bytes, and a sequence such as a family emoji counts as each code point it is built from.
